Fred Trout Instructs Northwest Coast Design I

Ketchikan, Alaska - Tlingit Carver Fred Trout will be instructing Northwest Coast Design I September 22-October 3, 2003. Students will discover how to correctly create original Northwest Coast Designs. This course is a 30- hour course and is a prerequisite for many classes at the Totem Heritage Center.

Fred Trout has taught several design and carving classes at the Totem Heritage Center since he earned his Certificate of Merit in Northwest Coast Carving in 1997. He apprenticed under Tlingit carver Nathan Jackson, helping to carve the 30-foot pole, Honoring Those Who Give, which was raised at the Totem Heritage Center.
