Listen To The Advice Of Senator Stedman. Vote Yes on Ballot Measure 1

The most important issue facing Alaskan voters who participate in the upcoming primary election on Tuesday, August 19th is Ballot Measure 1.

The central issue is whether or not Senate Bill 21 is a good deal for Alaska and its citizens. The forces behind the “Vote No on One” movement, primarily the oil corporations, have put together some well-written and certainly well publicized arguments. This writer understands and supports the need for Alaska to incentivize exploration and new oil well development. However, according to our own Republican Senator Bert Stedman, SB 21 is a big over reach in that direction and is a law that is not good for Alaskans.

Senator Stedman is the acknowledged expert on SB 21. He has led the fight in the Alaskan Legislature against the passage of SB 21 and now is a leading spokesperson calling for its repeal, asking Alaskans to Vote YES on #1. To this Alaskan voter, that speaks volumes, because Senator Stedman and has no political advantage in supporting the Vote Yes movement and would certainly have had a lot more to gain in going along with Governor Parnell and the Republican led majorities in both the Alaska Senate and House in supporting the bill. Yet despite having to pay a huge political cost, he continues to say

SB 21 is not a good deal, and perhaps falls into the category of being unconstitutional.

I encourage all those who are undecided or wavering on this important vote, to visit www.bertstedman.com and read Senator Stedman’s full explanation as to why he is asking voters to Vote Yes on Ballot Measure 1. I assure you, his arguments are compelling. Senator Stedman’s leadership on this issue is the primary reason why I’m voting Yes on 1.
