(SitNews) Kassan, Alaska - Early this morning, the Alaska State Troopers received a call from a man reporting that people were trespassing on his property in Kasaan on Prince of Wales Island. The man indicated that three individuals were on his property and were threatening to burn his home down. The man further reported that a female whom he did not know had a rifle and had entered his house. According to the man, he then shot the woman. The female reportedly ran into the woods with the two males.

The caller further said he was held up in his house because the individuals were returning fire. Troopers from Ketchikan and Prince of Wales Posts mobilized and responded to Kasaan. When Troopers contacted the man, he appeared to be under mental duress. A search of the area revealed no signs of trespassers. There also was no evidence found to support the claim that an individual had been shot.

The man, whose name was not release, was taken into protective custody without incident and transported away from the scene.
