Dear Editor of Sitnews,

I would first like to thank you for being here for so many years, for giving us a forum to air our concerns and gripes, as well as a consolidated unbiased "Online Ketchikan Newspaper".

I wish there were a way you could put a "Like" button on letters to the editor. So many I agree with, empathize with, and am grateful for:

~The sadness expressed in letters about drugs and suicides in town. My thoughts? There are people being busted for weed while the Heroin and Meth dealers still sell... surely, it is not that hard to get them too... makes one wonder about what it takes to keep them operating. The ex druggies will tell you who they are; a man stood up and said it- 3? years ago at the Ted Ferry 'drug concerns' meeting - "We all know who they are..." We do. One of my sons stated he will never come back to live here because of all the drugs and so many of his friends still being involved in them. Same thing with bullying- WHY doesn't anyone call anyone out on these things?? Screw politeness & political correctness. Do the right thing. SAY SOMETHING. LOUDLY.

~The recent article from Fishradio and Lainie W. I reposted it on FB so ppl in other states could see it. Wondering how a company in FRANCE EVER got an American contract to supply OUR schools, prisons, military, etc. with food to begin with. GREAT article. "Like".

~Also, the letter about Stand Your Ground and Travon being such a thug. I have followed that story, subsequently done much research on it/ him, and am also of the opinion that it will not be a tough decision for me to shoot someone attacking me with deadly force. Or breaking into my house. (There's been a rash of thefts around town lately, including hunting rifles stolen from trucks) "Like".

~Thanks to another letter here, I looked up a woman's number to address a recent incident at Herring Cove; I left her a message to let her know that I support her; I NEVER take a tour vehicle down the road to private properties there, as I LIVE HERE, and it offends me too, that some of the other tour guides exercise no control over their people. I will yell at them if necessary to get out of the road, & even argue, that NO, that is PRIVATE PROPERTY, & you do not have a right to be there, or, this is a HIGHWAY, & you don't do this at home. I make good $ whether we see bears or not. It is time to find another line of work if your tips depend on seeing bears out there. Or kissing ass. Conversely, it doesn't help matters that the city makes it so hard for the Independent tour operators to make a living, while making it so easy for the big companies & attractions. Some of those Independents are paying $14,000 a MONTH for ONE ticket booth to sell tours on the docks...

~Many more things to comment on, but for now, just general comments & a sincere appreciation for your tireless work. Thank you, Mary. We all love you.
