Secon's new paving
By Randy M. Lake

Leaving the post office recently, I crossed straight accross the road to Island Pharmacy and was disgusted at the lousy job Secon did paving from the roadbed up into the driveway of the pharmacy. Leaving the pharmacy, I turned south to where the new pavement meets the old in front of the hotel and fire station. Damn, they paved up to the old road two inches too low and tried to fix the error by patching up to the old roadbed a six inch "ramp" to meet the old. The result is an obnoxious bump and an everyday reminder of their shoddy work. The ever neglectful inspectors need to contact Secon and get it properly repaved. I suppose that would be the same inspectors that failed to inspect the pilings on the waterfront that could not support a piece of heavy eguipment doing demolition work that crashed through almost into the water.
