Ketchikan, Alaska - The U.S. Forest Service Ketchikan Misty Fiords Ranger District has lifted the very high fire danger burning restrictions, effective today. According to Stanley McCoy, Fire Management Officer of the Ketchikan Misty Fiords Ranger District. The burn ban had been in effect since August 11th.

McCoy said burning restrictions are now lifted for Revilla Island and the Ketchikan area for all district timber sale, road construction, and precommercial thinning operations and campfires.

Recent rains and cooler weather has reduced the fire danger to a low level, said McCoy. He reminds people to attend all planned burning and campfires and put them out when you are finished.

As a courtesy, you are asked to contact the Ketchikan Misty Fiords Ranger District at 228-4119 or the City of Ketchikan at 225-9616 if you plan on doing any major burning. "Your cooperation is greatly appreciated by the Ketchikan area fire departments and the Ranger District fire staff," said McCoy.
