(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - The Executive Director of the Greater Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce Michelle O’Brien stated in a news release, "We were honored to have the Pioneers of Alaska judge this year’s parade entries.:

The 2021 Spirit of Resilience Parade winners are as follows:

• Most Representative of the Spirit of Resilience: The Cape Fox Corporation
• Most Patriotic: The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and KIC Veterans
• Most Representative of Ketchikan: Grand Marshall, Mrs. Jan Ross as driven by Robert McRoberts in his antique vehicle

Of special mention for creativity, the Greater Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce specifically note the parade entries from local new businesses:

• Wolf Point Produce
• Ketcha Courier

The Greater Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce Chamber also specifically thanked the people and organizations behind the scenes that made this parade a great community event.

• Ketchikan Volunteer Rescue Squad for their stellar organization of the parade route
• Ketchikan Police Department and Alaska State Troopers
• TEMSCO for their tradition of opening the parade with the flying of our flag
• City of Ketchikan Public Works Department
• The American Legion Baseball team for carrying the award banners
• The Kayhi Softball team for carrying the Grand Marshall Banner
• Cruise Line Agencies for the use of their Van for our Mayors from Ketchikan, the Borough, and from Saxman
• Finally, many thanks to Royal Caribbean for their continued investment in our community as our signature sponsor of this year’s 4th of July Parade.

On behalf of the chamber, O’Brien said, "As always, your Chamber looks forward to bringing even more community wide events to you in the future."
