One Killed, One Seriously Injured in Roll-Over

(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - A Ketchikan woman sustained fatal injuries in a single vehicle roll-over wreck at Mile 5 South Tongass Highway late Wednesday evening.

The driver of the vehicle, Verna Edenshaw, 43 of Ketchikan, was declared deceased on the scene. Five passengers were in the vehicle with Edenshaw.

One injured female passenger, identified as Melissa Williams, 26 of Saxman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital in Anchorage for treatment according to the Alaska State Troopers. The four other passenger were transported to Peacehealth Medical Center in Ketchikan to be evaluated.

Troopers responded to the rollover after receiving a 911 call at about 10:40 PM Wednesday evening.

Next of kin for Edenshaw and Williams were notified. The accident is still under investigation.
