The Wrong Solution

By Cheryl Henley

I have lived here for 45 years. I have no expertise what- so -ever on the subject of bears that bother and scare because of the stupid actions of some people. What happened to the dump bears we used to see there? Didn't they move them to other parts of the island? What does the department estimate for numbers of bears living in this area?

I'd rather see money spent on moving the bears off the island, or somewhere that isn't accessed by cars. I think that shooting, & killing, the Ward Lake bear is wrong. It is the easy, cheap, solution to the problem.

I urge the department to come up with a creative solution solicited by the F&G employees, or other sources.

Killing the bear, or bears is a wrong solution.
