As the Prince of Wales Island Marathon Committee starts meeting once again to plan the island’s May 2012 marathon, it is important that we look back and acknowledge those organizations that made the 2011 marathon such a wonderful success.  Many race improvements were realized because of the generous support of the organizations listed below.

Our Gold Level Sponsors were:  First Bank, Tongass Trading, Craig Cable, Alaska Airlines, and AP&T.  Fifteen sponsors made up the Silver Level:  Alaska Marine Lines, B-3 Contractors, City of Craig, Inter-Island Ferry Authority, Island Air Express, Pacific Airways, Petro Marine, ProMech Air, P.O.W. Island Chamber of Commerce, Silver Bay Seafoods, Whale Tail Pharmacy, JS True Value, Tyler Rental, Road ID, and Southeast Alaska Conservation Council.

Papa’s Pizza, Zat’s Pizza, Skinny Raven, P.O.W. Ready Mix, Thorne Bay Market, SE Road Builders, Black Bear Store, Log Cabin Sporting Goods, and Cleary Computer Services filled out the Bronze Level Sponsors.  Our supporters included the Hill Bar and Liquor Store, Craig Schools, Klawock PTSA, and Klawock Schools.

It was likewise exciting to have participants from all over Southeast Alaska take part in our marathon.   The 2012 marathon is scheduled for May 26 with more race improvements in mind, along with the addition of a half-marathon as one of our race options.

Again, many thanks to our sponsors, supporters, and participants from all over Southeast.

Jan Bush and Ann James,
Co-Directors -- Prince of Wales Island International Marathon Committee
