Man charged with first-degree assault and robbery of 86-year old

(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - Ketchikan Police Officers responded early Tuesday morning to the area of the Plaza (326 Front Street) for the report of a man lying on the ground and bleeding. Once on the scene, police officers discovered a robbery victim who was bleeding from an injury to his head. According to the 86-year-old man, while walking in the area he was attacked, stabbed in the back, and robbed.

According to information provided in a news release, the injury to the victim's head likely occurred when he fell to the ground. The victim also apparently broke his arm during the attack.

While waiting for medical transport and interviewing the victim, Ketchikan Police Officers obtained a description of the suspect. Officers quickly located a male matching the description given by the victim. The suspect was still in possession of property belonging to the victim. Officers immediately arrested 25-year old James Blake Eddy of Ketchikan.

Eddy was transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center where he is being held without bail after being charged with first-degree assault and robbery. The victim was transported to the Ketchikan General Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The time of the response was 12:13 AM. The name of the victim has not been made public.

All charges reported are only accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
