Offended by anti-war Bug!

I am curious if anyone else was offended by the Volkswagen Bug in the 4th of July parade? Not sure, but I have always been under the impression that the 4th of July is to celebrate the freedom and independence of our country. If that being the case, to honor our men and women of the military (past and present) is the most important part of the parade. After all, without the bravery of those men/women we would not have the freedom and independence to celebrate.

When I saw the "slug bug"( my 5yr old son refered to it as) I couldn't believe my eyes!! The theme: anti-war!! Here is a woman with a list of names of some of the Alaskans killed in war, hanging from her neck, informing my 5yr old son and his buddy to "join the peace corps when you boys get old enough." How apauling!!I was embarrassed and offended.

I believe that everyone is entitled to their own say and beliefs, however, there is a time and a place. Bottom line: they should have NEVER been allowed to partake in our 4th of July parade. By doing so, you have just insulted not only the enlisted, past and present, but many of us civilians who have nothing but thanks and whole hearted appreciation for those men and women, who have fought for our right to freedom. (Just my personal opinion, of course)...
