New UAS Ketchikan Scholarship Opens

Ketchikan, Alaska - The University of Alaska Southeast Alumni Association Ketchikan Chapter Scholarship is now open and applications are being accepted. The scholarship is new for the Ketchikan campus. Applications are due by August 22, 2005. The scholarship will be awarded for the Fall 2005 semester, which starts September 1.

The scholarship will be awarded to one or more students attending the University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan. Qualified applicants for this scholarship will demonstrate motivation, academic and leadership potential in the academic area the student is pursuing; taking at least six credit hours; a returning undergraduate student in good academic standing with a minimum 2.5 grade point average and an Alaskan resident. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate leadership and volunteerism.

The University of Alaska Southeast Alumni Association assists the university in remaining a vital and dynamic institution through financial support and community awareness, and provides an opportunity for alumni to help shape the future of the Alaskan educational experience. The Ketchikan Chapter of the UAS Alumni Association has been in existence since 2003.
Several other scholarships are currently open and can be found at the website. Other financial aid sources are available and the UAS Ketchikan student services department can assist students with financial aid questions.

The University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan provides a wide variety of educational courses and programs to Ketchikan and the surrounding communities throughout the year. Many course offerings are available locally and through distance avenues including web-based, audio conference, teleconference and satellite offerings. Through these offerings, students can achieve certifications, associate, bachelor and master degrees.
