Juneau, Alaska - Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) Commissioner Kevin C. Duffy announced Tuesday the appointment of Thomas W. Lawson as the new ADF&G Director of Administrative Services. Lawson is currently serving as the Director of Administrative Services at the Alaska Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).

"I am pleased that Tom has joined our management team," said Commissioner Duffy. "Tom has strong leadership principles and extensive experience in administrative services. I am confident that he is well-suited for this new role."

Tom Lawson, of Juneau, brings to the department more than 20 years of experience in government administrative services, economic development, resource management, and community planning. Lawson has served as the Director of Administrative Services at DCED since 1997. In this capacity, Lawson was responsible for the financial, procurement, information technology, and budget services of the department. He has implemented cost allocation plans, expanded information technology programs, and supervised the merger of the administrative functions of two state departments. Lawson's prior work experience includes serving as Deputy Director of DCED's Division of Trade and Development; Coastal Management Coordinator and Natural Resource Planner at the Department of Natural Resources; and Planner at the City and Borough of Juneau.

Lawson will begin work on August 1, 2004 and will replace Kevin Brooks, who was appointed as Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Administration in June 2004.
