Independence Day Celebration by Tom LeCompte
 July 07, 2004Wednesday
As is always the case I loved our Independence Day Celebration,
from the local food booths on the Tongass Dock, to the Kiddie
Parade, to the "Adult" Parade, to the Fireworks. It's
the best of small town and for many, hometown America.

I do have one complaint. With our mid-summer late night (11 PM)
start for the fireworks display, it was a little tougher getting
up in the morning Monday to go to work.

Now normally anything they do up in the City of Juneau is a reason
for me to think 180 degrees opposite. But they shoot off their
fireworks at midnight between the 3rd and 4th of July. This allows
folks a day off following in which to sleep a little later, or
time for a nap after fishing, whatever.

I wish we could look at this option locally.

 Thanks,

 Tom LeCompte
