Mike Harpold submitted a 'Point of View' to the Ketchikan Daily News, encouraging our congressional members to look closely with a read of the Senate immigration legislation, which in his opinion lacks any real enforcement or assessment of the root problems that have plagued immigration law for some time. and make substantial changes to address these weaknesses.

For those who know both Mike and me, will acknowledge that we do not have much in common on political issues. I'd like to think we address our differences in a calm, concerted, and generally friendly exchanges.

Therefore, I submit that Mike has with his years of border experience (35 years) submitted a very knowledgeable review and concerns reflecting these years of border activity.

When one makes request of our Congressional body to consider perspectives on subject, it serves well to submit what you believe is a solution for consideration as Mike has, should entice a positive reaction.

In support of Mike's point of view the following is offered as a concrete suggestion for Senator Murkowski, Begich and Representative Young to consider.

While not an original thought on this authors' part, it deserves consideration as the model for U.S. immigration law.

01. There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools.
02. All ballots will be in this nation's language.
03. All government business will be conducted in our language.
04. Non-residents will NOT have the right to vote no matter how long they are here.
05. Non-citizens will NEVER be able to hold political office.
06. Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no food stamps, no health care, or any other government assistance programs. Any who are a burden will be deported.
07. Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount at least equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.
08. If foreigners come here and buy land, their options will be restricted. Certain parcels including waterfront property are reserved for citizens naturally born into this country.
09. Foreigners may have NO protests; NO demonstrations, NO waving of a foreign flag, no political organizing, NO bad-mouthing our president or his policies. These will lead to deportation.
10. If you do come to this country illegally, you will be actively hunted and, when caught, sent to jail until your deportation can be arranged. All assets will be taken from you.

Too strict.? The above laws are the current immigration laws of MEXICO.! If it's good for American's to obey Mexican laws, then it's good visa versa.!!!
