Thus far, KYI Youth Community Center Capital Campaign received $2,000 from cash donations and proceeds from the BBQ and raffle sales.

Quoting David Hooser, principal owner of Wild Alaska Stunt Show (WASS), “We are proud to be a part of the Ketchikan community and this was a great way to show Ketchikan what we are all about.  Knowing that we helped two deserving organizations and put smiles on the nearly 1000 faces that entered our facility that day made this event one our cast will long remember.”

KYI thanks all the donors of food and cooking for the BarBQ, the bands, Redwater and Maybe We’re Dead , and a long list of raffle prize and equipment donors. McCreary added her thanks the Ketchikan community for their generosity.

The Youth Center Capital Campaign is raising money to continue the development of the Old Water Warehouse building on Park Avenue across from the American Legion.  This project will receive funding up to $75,000 under a grant from the State’s capital asset budget.  The grant is provided on a reimbursement basis for expenses incurred after July 1, 2011.

“Raising seed money to access this grant is an important strategy of the development project.  We had such wonderful prizes donated we decided to extend the “big” raffle through 4th of July,” said Bobbie McCreary, KYI Administrator.

First prize is a round trip to Hollis for two with a 20 ft vehicle on the InterIsland Ferry and a two night stay at Water St Apartments in Craig; Second Prize is a skiff rental from Knudsen Marina, $75 in Fish Processing from Clover Pass Resort and a $100 Tongass Trading Coupon, and Third Prize is a Deluxe Flightseeing Tour to Misty Fjords from Promech.
