It would be interesting to know what the community's reaction was when the new high school was built at the top of that huge hill "out the road" (Fourth & Madison).

In the 60's, on the snow days, I remember trekking up the hill in pantyhose and a miniskirt because the buses couldn't make it. I assume the planners took that into consideration when they chose that spot. Once the high school was built, the pool and fields and tennis courts and community college and Houghtaling and Revilla followed. Build it and they will come.
