The Bridge

I feel I must respond to some of the letters posted here about the bridge. First off let me say that there is no way that there should be the level of hunger we have in this country. Hunger should have been taken care of years ago, but that is a problem with many variables.

The fact of the matter is that this money has been appropriated to the Transportation budget and must be spent in that realm. We can't take it and then spend it on what ever we want.

The issue of cruise ships and planes is something that will be factored in to any bridge! (common sense)

The US budget is 2.4 TRILLION dollars the bridge is $230 million, so in the grand scheme of things the bridge would compose .00009 billionths of the US Budget! Not a lot of money when you take in the big picture.

When it comes to the country being at war we can't just stop all capitol projects, that would be ridiculous. Are you saying we shouldn't pave any roads, fund any sewer projects, etc. because we are at war? The brave men and women overseas may not be fighting for a bridge per say, but we can't stop because they are over there.
