THE MAINTENANCE WILL BANKRUPT
THE TOWN, FOLKS!

Alaska has always been full of dreamers, and the idea that greater
access to the muskeg flats of Gravina Island will solve all of
our local problems has great appeal, I am sure, to many of you.
This proposed bridge project
is proximate in size to the Golden Gate Bridge. That bridge employs
38 painters full-time. The Gravina bridge has a price tag about
one-fourth the net value of all the taxed property in this Borough.
The state has pledged $100,000 annually for maintenance. Take
a break from your dreaming some time, and do the math.
