We don't get news from Canada very often, especially when related to their herring management. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has stated repeatedly that our herring harvest policy is based on and patterned after the "conservative" management plan designed by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in B.C. This fisherman's letter illustrates just how far reaching the degradation of the North Pacific's coastal waters has become, thanks to the failed policies of both British Columbia and Alaska.
