Studded Tire Deadline Extended to May 15th
April 29, 2013
Monday PM
(SitNews) Anchorage, Alaska – The Alaska Department of Public Safety Commissioner's Office issued an emergency order to extend the studded-tire deadline on Alaska roads from May 1 to May 15.
The extension makes May 15 the deadline for all Alaska roads. The extension should provide all motorists that additional margin of safety on roads experiencing lingering winter conditions.
Those driving with studded tires after the deadline could be issued a correctable ticket with a $50 fine by Alaska State Trooper. Local police agencies may have a different fine amount depending on city laws.
