Ketchikan, Alaska - Clear skies and light winds favored eighty one Ketchikan runners and walkers in Saturdays Remax Sourdough Stampede. The Stampede is the first event of the local running season and features a one mile and 5K race followed by a pancake breakfast at the VFW. Race Director Fred Jorgensen said, " 81 participants is huge. We usually have about 60. I think the word is out that our pancakes are very tasty."

The one mile male winner was Evan Wick in 6:58. The female winner was 7 year old Morgan Elerding in 8:52.

Greg Singstad won the 5K in 18:59. Fastest 5K female was Hilary Robbins in 21:20.
