Bridge to Where?

Dear Mr. Mackie, what exactly is the San Francisco Bridge? I
lived in the Bay Area for a time in my life and never heard of
such a bridge.... are you sure such a bridge was actually built?
I don't think it was... so I will be glad to call the bridge
that never gets built, the Pennock Island Bridge.... howabout
that? No more Bridge to Nowhere... in fact NO MORE Bridge...
but it can have a name by golly...
