A DISCUSSION OF SIMPLE
By David G. Hanger

An amoeba is a simple thing, Mr. Mackey.  It lacks even a brain.  Despite that simplicity there is a complication; an amoeba is a living thing, and life, as any scientist will tell you, is difficult to explain.  An old Italian proverb tells us, "The smile is abundant on the face of the fool," and there are at least a couple examples of that wandering the streets right here in K-town.

"Keep it simple, stupid," KISS in contemporary parlance actually means, "Keep it simple for the stupid."  So simple is an option that is available to you.  You can persist in living a simple life of mimesis and nothing beyond, chortle with your home boys and never allow anything new into your orbit; that is simple enough.

Being a simpleton is simple, Kevin, and if you want simple, there is a world of simple people out there waiting for you.  A human being, however, has the choice not to be a simple creature, so as an option you might consider the potential of your complexity.  Viewed through such a prism life is perhaps not so simple after all.
