Ketchikan Herring Update

An aerial survey Thursday morning at 6:00 am showed one small spawn near Tatoosh Island. The Alaska Department of Fish & Game reported no other active spawn was seen in the West Behm Canal Thursday. The department planned to take samples as Thursday progressed, however those reports were not available by late Thursday evening.

The dates of the major spawn in 2003 were April 9th through April 12th according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

The next aerial survey is scheduled for 6:00 am Friday morning, April 9th.

 

Update:

The Alaska Department of Fish & Game reported the aerial survey Friday morning at 6:00 am showed one small spawn near Tatoosh Island. No other active spawn was seen in the West Behm Canal area today. The department will try to take samples from that area as the day progresses.

The next aerial survey is scheduled for 7:00 am, Saturday, April 10th.
