Free health care for all
by Thomas Ferry

Now I am being attacked as being a racist, and to be responsible for past generations sins.

I would like free health care for all races, does that make me a racist? Yes, some Natives in the U.S.A. don't have free health care and they should. I have many Native friends that tell my wife that she needs to get her Cherokee blood documented so she can get free medical benefits - yes I married a Cherokee, am I still a racist?

I think Alaska Natives are the greatest artists of North America and have much to be proud of. Native cultures around the world have always gotten a raw deal from invaders. I hope that someday the wounds will heal.

I am a Republican who believes in free health care for all - and not just for some. It is simply an issue of fairness. If the government passes associated health care laws then the uninsured and small businesses will be able to get the same break as government and union employees.

I just spoke with an Alaska Native friend who just had a baby and she told me all their medical bills are paid for by the government. I think that is the way it should be for all races.

Thank you,
