City Council Meddling
By Charles Edwardson

I was contacted by the owner of the low speed vehicle - golf carts as I referred to them in my last tirade against the ineptitude of Ketchikan City Council decisions on private business.

I was informed that the owner of the low speed vehicles that received a special consideration from the council to operate low speed vehicles on our city streets is in fact a life long Ketchikan resident,, he presented an apparently good idea that would make him money and he would invest in this endeavor with his own money to enhance his business and his bottom line.

WHAT THE -- HEY THAT SOUNDS LIKE MUCH THE SAME PROPOSAL OF YELLOW TAXI????!!!

I apologize to the low speed vehicle guy,, and wish him the best,, but what is the difference between his personal investment and yellow taxis personal investment? Ya, ya city ordinance, demonstrated need yada, yada, but what is the fundamental difference? They both have skin in the game let em try ,if it works good for Ketchikan. if it fails what consequence is it of ours? Again good luck Yellow Taxi,

On second thought, I'm a general contractor would you consider stifling my competition? Ah never mind - I'll do that the old fashioned way, I'll offer a better product and price if I can.
