Dead Humpies
By Aan Kadax Tseen aka Don Hoff Jr.

There is nothing like beating a dead humpy to death. There is not going to be a bridge to nowhere in Ketchikan, Alaska, move on with more important problems in Ketchikan. There are only 50 or so people that live on Gravina Island. Open more land for whom? Build a bridge on speculation? That is insane.

I don't mind a good debate with folks that don't agree with my opinions. America said no to any earmarked projects in Alaska. Knik Arm Bridge in Anchorage is a long shot. The proposed bridge in Juneau is even a longer shot to get funding and constructed. In Juneau, what happens if the Capital move happens? Juneau will be a ghost town like Ketchikan. Who will be driving over the proposed bridge? Who is going to pay the debts these bridges will cause and maintenance costs?

What happens if your Republican Presidential candidate McCain wins the general election? He shot down the pork barrel spending proposed bridge project in Ketchikan. McCain argued against Don Young and Ted Stevens in D.C., his own party.

The Airport Ferry does a fine job keeping on schedule; I personally like the short ride across the channel. The ferry ride is what makes Ketchikan unique. Now you have a road that goes nowhere, 30 million of our taxpayer dollars. What a joke on the American Taxpayer. Sorry but I am all taxed out!

Pennock Island and Gravina Island belong to the Taan ta Kwaan and Saan ya Kwaan. It is Tlingit land. We never relinquish our ancestral lands to anyone, nor to any governments. It was stolen from us, plain and simply. These waters may be tested later.

If all you bridge supporters in Ketchikan are so adamant about driving over a bridge, there are thousands of bridges of different sizes in the lower-48 you can drive over all day long if you want too, you might want to consider that option. Ketchikan doesn't need nor can afford a bridge today, yesterday or tomorrow. This is my opinion only,
