Having served on the School Board for three years, I came to accept that we were often blamed for everything that happened in the school district, whether we had anything to do with it or not.

While I haven't seen the newspaper story, I would hope that it made clear that it was the district budget committee, not the School Board, that ranked student activities low on the priority list. The committee is made up of administrators, staff, and community members. The superintendent will now have an opportunity to make changes to the rankings before it goes to the School Board for final prioritization.

I agree with Mr. Edwardson that student activities are an important part of education, and hope the board will give it a higher priority.
