Some things should be illegal

With respect to the drug problem, I take exception to the viewpoint that because people do it we should make it legal. So people are going to kill, cheat, lie, steal, beat their wives and children. Shall we make these legal too? Some things should be illegal and drugs like marijuana , amphetemines and heroin are among them.

Do we want to be like Denmark where our children can watch people shoot up and smoke joints in public? What kind of message do we send them if we wink and say it's no big deal? Drug use in Denmark is increasing every year. Their idea is not working. Danes are increasingly using harder drugs as well. Ecstasy and Cocaine use is replacing "softer" drugs.

I know people that participated in D.A.R.E too, and they did NOT use drugs.

Marijuana is not harmless. Maybe its effects are not as noticeable but they remain harmful to individuals and society as a whole. It makes a person less likely to discern right from wrong and creates lethargy and apathy. There are some physical effects as well that can be found on any informational website if you care to look.

I do not in any way shape or form support legalizing marijuana for recreational use. The words "recreation" and "drug" should never be used in the same sentence.

That being said, I do support medical use of marijuana with some reservations.

But good grief, to say we should legalize it because everybody will do it anyway is just ridiculous.
