Aerial spraying is not the right thing to do
by Rick Grams

It looks like we have a fundamental belief and agreement that aerial spraying is not the right thing to do here in Southeast Alaska (or anywhere else).  An elementary school child (5th grade science) can connect the dots from spraying poison in the sky to setting into the ground.  Add the high amount of rain which makes this land so beautiful and that poison runs into out streams, lakes, and oceans.

We already have enough challenges keeping our waters clean from cruise ships and countless other polluters in society.  Why do we need to accept this from any state government?  Remember, the state government is supposed to work for us - the taxpayer - and we have to hold them to that fact.

The following comes from the SEACC web site. Please go to this web site and read up on the information.  I was shocked to see the facts. After reading the facts, I was further disgusted at the timing and the irrational judgment of the proposed aerial spraying action.

And if you need a precedent, please refer to this web link where the Honorable Senator Kissel of the 7th District in Connecticut (Chair of the Committee on Environment) proposed bill No. 918 which specifically requests

"AN ACT CONCERNING AERIAL SPRAYING OF PESTICIDES IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 441 of the general statutes be amended to prohibit the aerial spraying of pesticides in residential areas.

Statement of Purpose:

To protect public health by prohibiting the aerial spraying of pesticides in residential areas."

Southeast Alaska - We do not have to be the guinea pigs.  Make your voice heard!
