Nice to see Ketchikan so passionate about causes

It's nice to see Ketchikan so passionate about causes such as litter and the smoking ban. My daughters and I have to pick up trash along our street monthly because of inconsiderate people - mostly kids going to school - who think any patch of grass is a dumping ground.

I think we all have to be more dedicated to keeping our town clean. I have called the police and reported litter-bugs throwing trash out of their cars and I'm happy to say those people were fined by the court. If we are all diligent about the appearance of our community, it will make a huge difference.

I am also happy to see that a smokeless bar will be opening in a few weeks! "Fat Stans" at the Salmon Landing Market place will literally be a breath of fresh air to people who want to enjoy a drink with friends without going home smelling like a 20 year old ashtray! It's about time. I for one will support this establishment and it's committment to be smoke free.

There is no prettier town than Ketchikan on a sunny Spring day! Let's make May 1 a city-wide clean-up day and get out there with garbage bags in hand.
