GAS PRICES IN KETCHIKAN

By Kenneth G. Reese

Everyone wonders why we pay so much for gas here. It's simple, because the petroleum company here likes to rip you off. That is why. Because they can.

I often wonder when I read some of the letters on SitNews, like what is the point? Are they sharing information, complaining, or proving they really know the cause of high gas prices?

In my 44 years here I have only seen gas prices drop significantly one time. That was when Ken Horn organized a picket line in front of Carrs Gas station. They dropped the price that day.

SO some times I think what is the purpose of all this? Who knows?

But if anyone would ever like to see lower gas prices here, well in my opinion the best, fastest, and easiest way to do this is by public demonstration. This has already been proven it works here!!! You get their attention real fast.

I do not believe the Governor will do anything about it.
