RE: IRS Debacle

This letter is just one more example of FairTax® deception. The FairTax® does not cure excessive, foolish, un-Constitutional federal spending - that is a distinctly different problem from the tax system.

The FairTax® bring us its own “IRS” (i.e., the STAA), which may conduct more invasive audits of consumers, demanding to see all receipts. It would surely lead to a new Income Tax, bringing back the old IRS.

Congress would certainly repeal the laughable “Sunset Clause” and would “have to do something” to respond to the “emergency” of a sharp drop in tax revenues because the FairTax® “assumes” that non-one will cheat or save (really?). See also, Cato Institute’s similar warning at https://danieljmitchell.wordpress.com/2012/08/11/a-primer-on-the-flat-tax-and-fundamental-tax-reform/

While FairTax® propaganda appears to make sense on a very superficial level, it dissipates when you understand what is beneath the surface.
