How Much Do You Care!!!

By Bonnie J Abbott

I had some interesting things happen recently, after my letter in SitNews, I was approached by several, all said the same thing, but I knew none of them. Three different stores, in one week. What they said was surprising to me. What they said is how much they agreed and like my letters recently in SitNews and all said keep up the good work Bonnie! I haven't heard that much in my life so it felt good to have strangers approach me and let me know how much it meant to them.

My reason for writing now is I want to say thank you for the people who did like it, and it means more to me than you know, it was difficult to write, and when I hit the SEND button with a lot of hesitation, I am glad now I did.

Most importantly the other reason I am writing is people in our community need to know, who are so naïve to the fact of how bad it is getting here in Ketchikan, there are new addicts daily, and something has to be done. We cannot all sit back and get angry about the issue and do NOTHING.

This is a disease people, not a choice. As we become adults we know between right and wrong, we should seek help immediately, the minute we know we have a problem! But most of us cannot until we are at our lowest point of desperation and our lives are so damaged, to us, that we feel like being alive doesn't appeal one bit to us any more. That's why some do not stop.

What my point is... yes you can stop. I did. Addicted to everything and anything, tried hundred of times I never stopped trying, the entire time. That's why my life was pretty terrible most of the time. I would use and then feel guilty and obtain a few months of sobriety and go right back and do it again.

Please other people respond to me, the ones who would like to share their opinion on the drugs in Ketchikan and the opinion of some addicts as myself and say a word or two of your testimony !!!

I would love a response from others of things we could do to make Ketchikan right again!!!

About: "I have been an addict for twenty seven years, it seems like forever, lost memories I try so hard to recall. The regrets and guilt you feel when you are finally sober and you know this is it, no going back, it isn't and wasn't an option for me, there was only one way I had to go. In that is the completely opposite of the last twenty years...more later!!"
