School funding
By Paul Jarvi

MS Pardes, I agree with your ideas about funding, however there are more problems with our state schools than money. Former Governor Murkowski gutted the teacher retirement system. Alaska teachers do not pay into Social Security and if they have other careers that do pay to Social Security they will only get a fraction of what they have paid.

Your idea is to provide more money to the problem. I do not disagree with this idea, however educators in our state need a reason to stay for their professional lives. The way the system is now is to get new teachers and discard them or have a few thinkers leave the state as soon as possible. This does not create a great educational enviroment.

Let Educators teach and provide them with a proper retirement at the end of their caree's. My children and grandchildren have been out of the system for several years. I do care what happens with our schools.

Public Education needs to be fixed from the classroom to the administration office. Good luck!

Best regards,
