New Credit Card Surcharges by Retailers

Recently In July 2012, a federal court in New York ruled that merchants can impose credit card surcharges unless states pass laws to prevent it.

So if a company or business wants to charge you an extra 3-4% surcharge on goods and services when you purchase anything... food, gas or any everyday item they can with impunity.

There are ten states that have banned such surcharges to make sure the everyday consumers doesn't pay for those hidden charges. They are Colorado, California, Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Oklahoma and Texas.

If this is something all fellow Alaskans want I would stress call your state congressman in the legislature and express your displeasure that Alaska has not joined those ten states in banning this backdoor way of siphoning more money from us.
