(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - Celebrating National Children’s Dental Health Month, Ketchikan Indian Community staff are visiting various Headstart and Pre-school locations around Ketchikan and Saxman.  This event has been sponsored by the American Dental Association since 1949. The theme for this year’s National Children’s Dental Health Month is “Rock Your Smile”.

Both the Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly and the Ketchikan City Council have proclaimed February as Children's Dental Health Month.

Each year during February KIC Dental Clinic staff perform educational outreach in an effort to promote good oral hygiene. At each location visited, KIC staff read a story, play games, and demonstrate the proper way to brush and floss and provide instruction on healthy foods.

The KIC Dental Staff have already visited Tlingit & Haida Headstart in Saxman and the Rural Cap Headstart in Ketchikan.

On Feb 15th staff will visit the Pioneer Home Preschool from 8am-Noon; on Feb 22nd staff will visit Houghtling Preschool from 8am-Noon; and on Feb 29th they will visit Fawn Mt. Preschool from 8am-Noon.
