(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - The City of Ketchikan and Ketchikan Public Utilities will use FlashAlert.net to post emergency messages, news releases and information relative to power outages and other emergency information.

Community members signed up for FlashAlert will receive up to date emergency information, and news releases through e-mail and/or cell phone text messages.  Persons may add several  e-mail or cell phone numbers to their account.  Signing up is simple, free and takes just moments. 

Persons can subscribe by going to www.FlashAlert.net and sign up to receive information from the City of Ketchikan, Ketchikan Public Utilities, or both.

Sign up information is also available on the City’s website at www.city.ketchikan.ak.us 

Additionally, the City of Ketchikan has activated a information telephone line 225-INFO (4636) where notices to the public relative to power outages, road closures and other service affecting issues will be posted.  This line will have recorded updates as often as needed.  It is important to note that this is NOT a number to call to report an emergency or utilities outage, rather the purpose of this line is for callers to obtain recorded information and updates.
