(SitNews) - Ketchikan, Alaska - This Sunday, the Ketchikan Police Department will celebrate 110 years of serving and protecting the citizens of Ketchikan.

The Ketchikan Police Department was formed with the adoption of Ordinance #4 on February 13, 1901. The ordinance directed that the Deputy United States Marshal assigned to Ketchikan at that time should be appointed as a local police officer.

To mark the occasion of the 110th anniversary, tours of the Ketchikan Police Department are being offered from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Fingerprint/DNA kits and safety reflectors will be handed out. This will also be an opportunity to meet “Booker,” the department's new drug dog.

Citizens are welcome to stop by for some cake and help celebrate the occasion.
