Crossing Guards
By Tracy Mettler

If you believe that the downtown crossing guards should should wear a uniform, or at the very least, have a dress code this season (and seasons to come...) please follow the link below to the Mayor and Council pages and let your elected representatives know.

These kids are on the front line and they are representing you. I'm not advocating dressing them like French Generals with white gloves and hundreds of brass buttons... maybe just a City issue polo, pants, belt, and shoes/boots. I don't even care what color they are... but they should be easily recognizable AND they should look good. Issue them cargo shorts for hot days and rain gear for wet days.

We're in the tourist business now. It's time to get out there and pressure wash the rope railings and sidewalks, paint the trim, remodel 40% of the jewelry stores, hang the planters, groom the horses, clean the boats, shine all those orange barriers, on and on... this year, let's take a little pride in our crossing guards too.
