Stand up for our Cops

Letter to the Editor:

Okay, I am often like an ostrich, sticking my head in the sand and pretending everything is great. After reading my friend Kristina Townsend's letter and then talking with some of our local Police officers, I am appalled the city of Ketchikan is not taking care of these people and embarrassed that the general populace is doing nothing to help them!

Folks: let's ask some of these questions:

Why aren't these Police Officers and Dispatchers being paid a fair market wage?

Is the City refusing to fairly pay these Peace Officers and Staff because they cannot legally strike to make their plight public?

Is the City really sitting on $11 million that they could be reinvesting in our community, starting with realistic wages for the people that keep us safe?

Wake up Ketchikan! These are the same people that make it safe for you and me to walk our dogs at 4am and our kids to play outside. C'mon and make some noise and stand up for our Cops and Staff! They need us now, you may need them later.
