During the balance of the week the attorney general will work with his senior staff to transition the department's responsibilities. The governor indicated that an acting attorney general would be named later in the week.

Murkowski announced Saturday that he had accepted the resignation of Attorney General Gregg Renkes. Renkes planned to submit his letter of resignation today.
