Magazine Sales Job
by Kim Murray

This letter is in response to all the letters regarding the magazine sales.

We left Ketchikan in 2000, and my son Charlie stayed for a while until he got this "job offer". He went with the job that took him to Albuquerque,NM . The job promised him a percentage of the sales, 2 meals a day plus additional spending money. The promise of the job included travel monies as long as they sold. He was also told that if he ever wanted to return home that his way would be paid in full. Well to make a long story short, he called from Denver 4 or 5 weeks into the "job" with no money, and no place to go. The return trip that he was promised amounted to fifty dollars . That didn't even get him a bus ticket, let alone anything else. So mom & dad had to spend a lot of money to get him a place to stay for the night and a ticket out of there. He was 19 at the time and this sounded like a great opportunity. So if you want to help these kids. Offer them a meal or a cup of coffee and somebody to talk to because the people they work for are taking advantage of their youth and inexperience.

Thanks for listening and maybe you could be the one to save one of these kids.
