Poor Cleanup

By Don Petrey

Thursday AM

I am writing this letter to bring to light the recent accident. I drove by right after it happened and then about 2 hours later. And the one thing that really concerned me was all the antifreeze coolant and oil that was left on the road. All that material got washed into the storm drains as we got some rain.

I saw very little clean up done and this affects our fish and marine habitat, not sure if whoever cleaned it up was in a hurry or just didn't think about it. I know anywhere else there would have been lots more people and absorbent material spread out and cleaned up. I noticed that the fluids were spread for a block at least both directions.

So I guess what I'm saying, think about this next time you eat any seafood that is harvested locally. I'm sure the local fisherman wouldn't like this destroying their livelyhood.

Thank you
