Cost to Repair Gunshot Damage to Electric System Over $10,000

(SitNews) - Alaska Power & Telephone reported to the Klawock Alaska State Troopers the discovery that an electric transformer had been shot by a high powered rifle near the community of Coffman Cove.

The damage caused a substantial interruption in the electric system of Coffman Cove causing the system to switch to emergency diesel backup generators for approximately 24 hours.

The total cost to repair the damage to electric system is estimated to be over $10,000.

Anyone with information that would lead to a suspect responsible for this damage is encouraged to call the Alaska State Troopers Klawock Post at 1-800-754-2918.
