Senator Stedman Hires 2006 Session Staff

Senator Bert Stedman (R-Sitka) announced today his staff for the 2006 legislative session. On January 5th, new hires Kim Carnot and Jane Kasberg joined existing Stedman aide Miles Baker in Juneau.
 
Kim Carnot earned a law degree and a Masters of Environmental Law at Vermont Law School and is an experienced attorney in Alaska.  She has spent the last two years working for Senator Lyda Green (R-Wasilla).  Ms. Carnot will be continuing a career in public service spent working as a Judicial Law Clerk, an Assistant District Attorney, and a Victims' Rights Advocate.

"We're very lucky to have Kim Carnot", remarked Sen Stedman. "She is well versed in statewide issues.  She is well respected in the capitol for her legal analysis and hard work.  She brings a wealth of experience to my office and will be an asset for the entire Senate district."
 
Carnot said, "I was honored to be asked to join Sen Stedman's legislative staff.  I am looking forward helping the residents of Senate District A and working on resources and regional issues for Sen Stedman's office."
 
Jane Kasberg joins Sen Stedman's staff from the private sector where she worked as a mortgage loan consultant and a small business owner.  She brings professional office experience and an eagerness to develop her skills in the public sector.
 
This session Sen Stedman will continue to serve on the Finance Committee, Resources Committee, Legislative Budget and Audit Committee, and the Community & Regional Affairs Committee.
 
Senate District A includes the Southeast communities of Ketchikan, Sitka, Wrangell, Petersburg, Pelican, Elfin Cove, Port Alexander, Saxman, Meyers Chuck, Thorne Bay, Coffman Cove and Hollis.

 

STAFF BIOGRAPHIES

Kim Carnot ­ Legislative Aide
Kim Carnot moved to Alaska in 2000.  She has worked as a Judicial Law Clerk, an Assistant District Attorney, a Victims Rights Advocate, a Guardian Ad Litem and a Child Custody Investigator.  Kim joined Senator Lyda Green's staff in 2003. Kim holds a B.A. in History and English from Washington University and a Juris Doctorate and Master of Studies in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School.  She is admitted to the Alaska and Maryland Bar Associations.
 
Jane Kasberg ­ Administrative Aide
Jane Kasberg was raised in Montana and has been in Juneau, Alaska since 1984. She has worked as a Mortgage Loan Consultant for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, and as a Mortgage Loan Officer for both Alaska Pacific Bank and National Bank of Alaska.  She owned a custom picture framing business and has served as a Real Estate Sales Associate and Associate Broker.  She studied at the University of Alaska Southeast and received a certificate in Business from Montana State University. 
 
Miles Baker ­ Legislative Aide
Miles Baker moved to Juneau in 1969 and is a graduate of West Anchorage High School. Prior to joining Senator Stedman's staff in 2003, he worked as a marketing and business development executive in the media and entertainment industry. He served as Director of Strategic Initiatives for NBC Entertainment, National Sales Director for Bertelsmann Music Group and as a Client Partner at technology consulting firm iXL Enterprises. Miles is a former Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and holds a BS in Ocean Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MBA from UCLA's Anderson School of Business.
