Now that the KIC election is over and the new members will be sworn in, there are some key people that need to be acknowledged. Although the Ketchikan Indian Community (KIC) election comes with differences of opinions covering all cultures and peoples, the one goal on everyone's mind is the future success of the tribe and making it better for the next generations.

Martha Johnson you are an amazing person, elder and advocate of the people. You are involved in helping everyone around we can always count on your smiling face at all events. Thank you, Martha!

ANB/ANS Mr. Stanly, Mr. Llanos & Ms. Cecelia Johnson. Thank you so much for the organization of the candidate forum. The questions presented and process were a welcome change. Thank you for the time put forth and for providing the food and drinks. I only wish that we would get more of a turnout from the membership.

All KIC employees, especially Mareen Gilmartin and Sheryl Whitesides. Thank you for putting together the candidate packets with pictures and bio's. I know it can be a challenge to organize and print the handouts so the membership can be educated on everyone. Good job!!

Thank you to our outgoing council President Mr. Bergeron and Health Board chair Mrs. Mary Jones. Your dedication, selfless service and leadership are appreciated.

If I have inadvertantly admitted anyone please know that you are appreciated. I truely believe that it does "Take a village."

Another year is ahead of our tribe and I pray for the success of the Council and Health Board. We are moving forward and will accomplish the goals set forth. These goals will benefit both the native people of Southeast and also the Ketchikan community.

Howaa',
