Bridges to the future...
By Don Hoff Jr.

January 21, 2006
Saturday

This is a retort to Mr. Mike Barton, Commissioner, Department of Transportation and Public Facilities-State of Alaska. I read Mr. Barton's editorial, "STIP & Bridges to the Future" and it is bunch of rhetoric and brain washing tactics to justify two bridges - one in Anchorage and one in Ketchikan. They are not bridges to the future but only the greatest waste of Local, State and Federal taxpayer dollars that could be spent wisely else where in Alaska.

Commissioner Mike Barton is a hired gun for Governor Frank Murkowski. Whom was just named, "Poker of the Month" by Citizens against Government Waste (CAGW) for backing construction of the infamous Bridges to Nowhere in U.S. Newswire, Medialink Worldwide - Washington on Jan. 20, 2006. You can read the CAGW news release "CAGW Names Gov. Murkowski Porker of the Month." If I were getting paid what Commissioner Barton is making a year, I would say whatever the Governor wanted me to say to keep my job, wouldn't you?

I read Mr. Barton's letter more than once and I still couldn't understand it. We used to have a saying, "dazzle them with brilliance or dazzle them with bull-stuff".

In closing, Governor Murkowski, we don't want a bridge in Ketchikan, Alaska. This is my own opinion.
